Does NMEA 2000 need power?

← Back

Yes, any NMEA 2000 network needs power. A large amount of NMEA 2000 devices are powered solely from the backbone, and this power is used to operate the device. Whilst this is the case for most devices, not all devices are powered from the NMEA 2000 network completely. Some devices pull too much current from the network and due to the NMEA regulations on NMEA 2000 networks, they must be powered from their own supply.
