About this kit

Kit 2a is the longer-reach version of the Actisense NMEA 2000 Starter Kit range. With a 6-metre backbone cable, it suits installations where equipment is distributed across a larger helm station or spread between different areas of the vessel.

It contains all the same essential components as Kit 1a — a Power T-Piece, terminators, and device T-pieces — with the extended backbone cable to bridge the greater distances common in mid-sized installations.

All connectors use metal bodies and nickel-plated brass contact pins. That combination provides meaningful real-world advantages: greater resistance to corrosion in saltwater environments, better mechanical durability under vibration and repeated connection cycles, and reduced risk of the thread damage or brittleness that plastic connectors are prone to over time. Metal housings also offer natural electromagnetic shielding — useful on vessels with radar, SSB radios, or other high-powered onboard electronics nearby.
