ParticipantHi,
I have a problem getting the position to my VHF. I have a Sailor 6217 with AIS using nmea0183. The plotter with internal GPS is a Raymarine Axiom with nmea2000/seatalkng. In between is a actisense NGT-1 ISO. The AIS information is succesfully sent to the plotter but the position is not received on the VHF. Any thoughts?April 7, 2025 at 7:25 am #59604Steve.drane@actisense.com
ModeratorGood Morning HakMat,
The NGT-1 is an NMEA 2000 to PC Gateway, The converter between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 is the NGW-1, or the NGX-1.
I do hope that this has helped and if you do require additional support, Please raise a support ticket from the link below,

ParticipantHi, my apologies. I have the NGX-1 not the NHT-1. The VHF has a baud rate of 4800. The AIS sentences from nmea0183 to nmea2000 works perfect. From nmea2000 to nmea0183 dors not work.

ModeratorGood Afternoon,
Is the VHF outputting AIS data at 38400 baud rate and expecting to receive GPS data at 4800 baud rate?
If so then this could be your issue, the NGX-1 is only capable of outputting and receiving on a single baud rate. so either 4800 or 38400.
If the VHF has the ability to change the baud rate it receives GPS data on to 38400, then this should solve your issue.
If not, then I am afraid you will likely require an additional converter to handle the data on a separate baud rate.
