Press release issued: 2 June 2026

Actisense, the marine electronics specialists based in Poole, Dorset, are proud to announce a donation of £1,000 to the “Do It For The Kids” campaign by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, helping to create a more positive and comforting hospital experience for children and young people across the region.

The campaign will fund enhancements for the new Children’s Unit in the BEACH Building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, funding projects and equipment that go above and beyond NHS funding to reduce anxiety, improve wellbeing, and create more welcoming environments for children, young people and their families.

Actisense says the donation reflects their commitment to supporting local communities and making a meaningful difference beyond their industry.

Megan Smith, Marketing Manager (Designate) at Actisense, said:

“We are incredibly proud to support the Do It For The Kids campaign and the amazing work being carried out by University Hospitals Dorset. As a company working in the marine industry, the ‘under the sea’ themed artwork particularly resonates with us. It’s a thoughtful and imaginative way to reflect the natural world while creating a calming, engaging environment for young patients. We’re delighted that our contribution will help bring these sensory and creative spaces into reality for children and families in our local area.”

Funds raised through the campaign contribute towards a range of specialist items and initiatives, including:

  • “Under the sea” themed ceiling tiles and lighting for procedure rooms to provide visual distraction during treatments.
  • Interactive play systems and waiting room activities for children’s assessment areas.
  • Mobile gaming carts featuring Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles for patient recreation.
  • The Little Journey App, helping children prepare for and navigate hospital care.
  • Sensory play areas and calming equipment including projector systems, mirrors, padded seating and tactile features.
  • Portable sensory trolleys designed to bring soothing sensory experiences directly to children throughout the hospital.
  • Therapy chairs offering more comfortable seating arrangements for young patients undergoing procedures.

Hayley Harris, Corporate Fundraiser for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity said:

“We are thrilled with the support from Actisense for our Do It for the Kids campaign, fundraising to create a happier hospital experience for children and young people in our community. This gift means a lot, and it will help so much as we raise funds to provide colourful artwork, sensory items, calming spaces and more meaningful projects that will enhance the new Children’s Unit within the BEACH Building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.”
