A2K-SBN-2 8 Way Self-contained Boat Network

Installing small NMEA 2000® networks is quicker and easier than it’s ever been with the Self-contained Boat Network (SBN) from Actisense.

The equivalent of eight T-pieces in a single case provides a significant time and space saving with no more connecting multiple T-pieces together. Termination resistors are built in which increases the saving on time and space.

A2K-SBN-2 NMEA 2000 Connector

SBN-2 Self-contained boat network

Once the attached 3 metre cable is connected to the boats power supply, an NMEA 2000 network for up to eight devices is ready to use, taking ‘plug & play’ to the next level.

Looking to have a network with less than eight devices? Try our SBN-1 for up to 4 devices!

* Please note: The SBN-2 creates a network for a maximum of 8 devices and cannot be extended.

On smaller vessels, available space can often be limited. The space for installing devices, cables, connectors and other pieces of equipment requires careful planning to ensure everything will fit and work together.

In a scenario where there are a number of NMEA 2000 instruments in close proximity to one another, the SBN is perfect.

By offering a complete, correctly terminated network within the SBN, the amount of space taken up compared to building a standard backbone using tees and drops is much less. Reducing the amount of cabling and connectors required saves time, cost and weight.

This in turn also makes cable management much easier and neater.

Note; The SBN cannot be expanded past the number of supported device drop connections. i.e. the SBN-1 cannot support 5 devices, and the SBN-2 cannot support 9.
Please consider this before planning to use an SBN.
